Games we play - The following are game systems that we play and the periods we use them for.

De Bellis Antiquitatis (DBA), Multitudinis (DBM) & Magistrorum Militum (DBMM)

A very nice series of rules covering a wide period of conflict in time and geography, from biblical times to the Later Medieval period (3000BC - 1500AD).

Of late, we seem to be doing most of our gaming with these rules in Later Medieval Eastern Europe.

British Grenadier!

We are currently in the process of trialing this set with a view to adopting it as our AWI set, following the failure of PK:PoW to perform to our liking.

Initial reports from Bob and Rupe are very positive.

BG! is a derivative of the Napoleonic rules General de Brigade, and we may well even trial these too - compare and contrast with PoW.

Find more info on the General de Grigade site.

General de Brigade

The Napoleonic rules system from which British Grenadier (among others) was derived.

We shall be trialing this set fairly soon.

Field Of Glory

The latest Ancients and Medieval wargame from Richard Bodley-Scott, Simon Hall & Terry Shaw which is taking the hobby by storm.

There Are Your Guns

There Are Your Guns

Another spin-off from GdB; this time covering the 19th Century after the Napoleonic Wars.

It covers briefly the Crimean, Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian Wars.

Specific source books are planned for which will expand each of the above.

Principles of War

There are a number of different sets available covering most of the major Pike & Shot and Horse & Musket wars and warfare. They are extremely successful in bringing out the flavour of a particular period.

We currently use them mainly for Napoleonic battles, but will be branching out into ECW and 19th Century periods in the near future.

Piquet: Field Of Battle

This set is a streamlined version of the popular Piquet ("PK"). They are card-driven initiative systems with simple to follow rules mechanics. They are good for multi-player games where a fast and fun game is required.

We tried them for Napoleonics but found them lacking in sufficient detail for our needs. It is widely believed that they will work for our AWI project and will be play-tested along with the British Grenadier rules as and when sufficient figures are ready
